William Sheehan is a partner in Goodwin Procter's Appellate Litigation Group, which he chaired from 2005 to 2013. He has briefed and argued several cases in the U.S. Supreme Court and many cases in the federal circuit courts, district and bankruptcy courts, state supreme and intermediate appellate courts, and before arbitration panels. Mr. Sheehan also maintains a wide-ranging litigation and counseling practice, with considerable experience in complex financial litigation.
Before joining Goodwin Procter, Mr. Sheehan was Deputy General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Defense, where he was responsible for coordination and oversight of major Defense Department litigation, and was chair of the DoD Alternative Dispute Resolution Coordinating Committee. He also served as an Assistant to the Solicitor General of the United States.
