William P. Ritchie

Bill Ritchie practices corporate and securities law and has experience in all phases of this practice, primarily representing publicly held companies, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, contested takeovers, and all types of corporate financings, including public offerings. He also has had considerable experience working on international business transactions, including cross-border M&A deals and multinational joint ventures. Bill is also actively involved in advising boards of directors and special committees on corporate governance matters.

During his career, Bill has been the lead lawyer on more than 100 M&A transactions. His regular corporate clients currently include Bridgestone/Firestone, CTS Corporation, Duchossois Industries, Eastman Chemical Company, and HON INDUSTRIES. Bill has also done transactions for such other clients as ABC Rail; Acordia; Bridgestone Corporation (Japan); Chrysler Financial; Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company; Cole National; Cross & Trecker; CS First Boston; Dexter Corporation; Diamond Shamrock Corporation; Dow Corning; Ecolab; General Motors; The Hartford Courant; Interlake, Inc.; The J.M. Smucker Company; Libbey-Owens-Ford; Lubrizol; M.A. Hanna; Marathon Oil Company; Marquette Cement Company; Morton International; Nebraska Cellular; Outboard Marine Corporation; Premier Farnell; Republic Steel; Rykoff-Sexton, Inc.; Scott Fetzer; Sherwin-Williams; Timken; TRINOVA; and TRW. He has also represented both U.S. and non-U.S. companies in transactions in the United States, Europe, and the Far East.

Bill is a member of the ABA (Business Law Section) and The Chicago Bar Association. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Grant Park (Chicago) Orchestral Association and a member of the board of trustees of the Morton Arboretum.
