Scott Schwind focuses on international energy and natural resources matters, with an emphasis on upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas transactions and energy infrastructure projects throughout the United States, Latin America, and Africa. He previously practiced law in São Paulo, Brazil.
Scott's upstream oil and gas experience includes concessions, production sharing contracts, drilling contracts, joint operating agreements, and joint development arrangements. He also coordinates foreign and domestic farm-ins, acquisitions, and divestitures of oil and gas producing properties. In the midstream space, Scott regularly negotiates oil and gas gathering and transportation arrangements, including crude oil and natural gas pipelines and lifting arrangements. In the downstream sector, he structures crude oil processing and refined products marketing, purchase, and sale arrangements. In addition, he advises clients on the acquisition, divestiture, and construction of infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy industry.
Scott's recent experience includes the representation of a Brazilian shipyard in crafting contracts for the construction of drillships for use in deepwater oil & gas developments in Brazil. He also recently represented a Mexican conglomerate in the strategic acquisition of acreage in the Eagle Ford Shale formation in Texas, as well as in a Multiple Services Contract for upstream activities in Mexico.
In October 2012, Scott was awarded a prestigious Marshall Memorial Fellowship by the German Marshall Fund of the United States and traveled for three weeks in Europe to meet with prominent business, political, and community leaders to discuss political, economic, and social institutions and issues facing the United States and Europe.
