William R. Griffith

Bill is a member of the Life Sciences Health Industry Group, practicing in the area of transactions. Bill has been engaged in the practice of law since 1974. His practice encompasses all aspects of corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, international transactions, and representation of private and publicly owned companies. Bill currently represents a number of entities in the health care and life sciences industry and he has counseled a number of specialty pharma and emerging companies, particularly in the biotechnology sector.

Bill has focused on international business transactions for a substantial portion of his career, and has represented clients throughout the world in such countries as Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Canada. He has assisted both domestic companies in their overseas legal affairs as well as foreign-based companies in acquiring and managing US operations. Earlier in his career he spent substantial time representing a U.S. based Fortune 50 multi-national diversified corporation in both its domestic and international divisions, working, in particular, with senior management in restructuring the company’s international rubber, chemical, and consumer business operations.

In the mid 1980s he became Vice President and General Counsel of a publicly traded (NASDAQ) telecommunications company that, at the time, was the largest non-bell interconnect company in the U.S. Bill supervised the $250 million sale of that company’s operations and then returned to private practice. He has acted in a general counsel role for a number of his clients over the years, including acting as outside-coordinating counsel for all U.S. legal activities of what was then the largest Australian-based health care company, serving on a number of boards of subsidiary companies and special management groups reporting directly to, and advising, the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors of that company. He has also served as a director of a publicly traded (NASDAQ) generic pharmaceutical company.
