Bill O'Reilly works primarily in complex litigation in the areas of antitrust, contract, and other commercial disputes and corporate criminal, governmental, and congressional investigations.
Bill returned to the Firm in October 2008, after serving as chief counsel and staff director for the House Ethics Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives from January 2006 through August 2008. In this prestigious position, he managed the committee's oversight and investigative responsibilities and coordinated ethics education and training by committee staff. He also spoke at conferences and seminars on congressional ethics issues, including the new Honest Leadership and Open Government Act.
Before he left the Firm for government service in 2006, Bill appeared before state and federal courts in numerous complex litigation matters, with a particular focus on antitrust matters. These included defending R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in multiple alleged price-fixing lawsuits, representing Bausch & Lomb as co-lead counsel in multidistrict litigation involving allegations of anticompetitive practices in the marketing of disposable contact lenses, and coordinating the defense of Bayer AG in numerous matters alleging price-fixing of several chemical products.
Since his return, he has continued to handle complex litigation matters in addition to representing individual and corporate clients in responding to congressional investigations in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Bill is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar.
He is the author of "If Congress Calls, Know the Rules," (Legal Times, 2009).
